The Veterinary Technician I:

Basic Qualifications: Associates Degree in Veterinary Technology or other animal biology related field with minimum 3 years related work experience. CVT or licensure eligible. Microsoft Word, Excel, hospital based programs (Harvest, First, HAS). Technical skills include: IV catheterization, phlebotomy, dosage calculations, fluid therapy, intubation, anesthesia and monitoring. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs with or without accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications: Three plus years experience preferred. Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in veterinary technology and CVT are preferred with a strong knowledge base of ECC veterinary medicine. Highly skilled in performance of advanced nursing techniques, ability to think and act independently, ability to assess patient condition and initiate medical intervention in emergency patients preferred. Ability and interest to learn ECC medicine, advanced nursing skills and patient assessment required. Willingness to receive work directions from others; function well as a team member and ability to communicate effectively with peers, students, clinicians and clients. Ability to multitask and meet deadlines while working in a very busy and sometimes stressful environment. A pleasant, positive, professional attitude in order to interact positively with all individuals involved in the ECC service as well as other services in the hospital.

Special Work Schedule Requirements: Standard hours are: Sunday - Thursday; hours vary as follows: Sunday: 3pm - 11pm, Monday 2pm - 10pm, Tuesday, Wednesday 1:30pm - 9:30pm and Thursday 2:30 - 10:30pm and on-call one Saturday per month. This schedule may vary dependent on staffing needs and hospital case load. Some day time (prior to 2pm) will be required for meetings or trainings.
