Dr. Andy Abbo completed his Veterinary Oncology Residency at Purdue University in Indiana. One of his honors and awards includes "First Place - Phi Zeta Osborne Clinical Investigator Research." He has extensive experience as a Medical Oncologist at several "Veterinary Specialist" locales throughout the United States, where he managed all aspects of inpatient and outpatient oncology care.
A current member of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, Massachusetts Veterinary Medical Association, the Veterinary Cancer Society, Phi Zeta Honor Society, and American Veterinary Medical Association, Dr. Abbo has authored scientific abstracts, peer-reviewed manuscripts, conducted clinical research (which includes the title "National Scholar") given presentations as well as leading numerous teaching activities in oncology.
One way to portray Dr. Abbo's passion and adoration for his line of work is to quote him directly. "It is my nature to enjoy all aspects of veterinary medicine. I love making a difference in the lives of pets living with cancer and their caregivers. Oncology is special to me because with continued clinical research and current therapies, we can not only provide an excellent quality of life, but now can also provide the best therapies for pets and their people."
Dr. Abbo lives with his wife who is also a veterinarian, a two-year-old daughter, 2 cats, Spidey Cat and Eddie, 1 Siberian Husky cross named Deedles and as he says, "a plethora o' fish."
He enjoys photography, kayaking, playing music, and spending time with his family when away from work.
