Full Member - $220.00
Most veterinarians are Full Members and are entitled to all benefits of membership, vote at annual and special meetings, and are eligible for elected office. All MVMA members are veterinary school graduates of "good moral character."
Life membership is not available to new applicants; MVMA bylaws require at least 10 years of dues-paying membership immediately before life membership is available, even if the age or tenure requirements are otherwise met.
Associate Member - $110.00
Associate Members are graduates of a school of veterinary medicine who become disengaged from all types of veterinary employment or reside and work out of state for at least six consecutive months or more of an annual membership period; or are interns, residents or instructors of veterinary medicine or of the sciences allied to veterinary medicine. Associate Members shall enjoy all the rights and privileges as Full Members including the right to vote but cannot hold office.
Student Member - Free
Veterinary students are eligible to become members of MVMA. Students receive all Full Member benefits, however, they do not have association voting rights and cannot hold office. MVMA offers discounted registration for students who wish to attend our CE Conferences and other programs. Starting in their second year, TUSVM students (as well as others with a New England connection) may request assignment to a mentor. Student members are invited to participate in committee activities. MVMA also offers an externship at our office, allowing veterinary students to explore public policy and other non-medical issues. Upon graduation, a student member automatically becomes a New Graduate Member (state licensure is required to become a New Graduate member). Dues are waived until the second January after graduation, so you can receive up to a year and a half of membership free!
New Graduate Member - Free
You are eligible for the New Graduate membership if you graduated from an accredited Veterinary Medical Program in 2015 and are licensed to practice veterinary medicine. This offer is good for the remainder of 2015 and for all of 2016. New Graduate members shall enjoy all the rights and privileges as Full Members.
Honorary Members do not qualify under the above section as Full Members, but who, due to the exceptional nature of their qualifications either in the field of veterinary medicine, biological sciences, or any of the pure or applied sciences related to the profession of veterinary medicine have been recommended by the membership committee, approved by the Executive Board, and elected to the membership by two-thirds vote at a regular membership meeting. Honorary Members shall enjoy all the rights and privileges as Full Members, except voting and holding office.
Life Members are those who have attained age sixty-five or have been Full or Associate Members for thirty-five years, and have been dues-paying members in good standing for at least ten years immediately prior to becoming a Life Member. Life Members shall enjoy all the rights and privileges as Full Members and are subject to the same responsibilities as Full Members.
