Track 1

Update on Dermatology (6 CE)

Stephen David White, DVM, DACVD

 

An update on presentations, diagnostics, and especially options for treatment of the pruritic dog and cat, emphasizing atopic dermatitis and food allergy.

 
A discussion of conditions that look like infections or tumors—but are not either. Options of treatments that the veterinarian can choose upon receiving a biopsy report will be evaluated.

Pediatrics and Initiating Life Stage Wellness for Puppies and Kittens (6 CE)

Steven Thompson, DVM, DABVP

 

Topics will include:

About the Speakers

 

Stephen David White, DVM, DACVD

 

Stephen David White, DVM, DACVD is a professor of medicine and epidemiology at UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. He received his DVM from UC Davis, has received many awards and honors, and is author of countless publications. His specialty focus is dermatology with a research focus on equine dermatology.


 


 

 

Steve Thompson, DVM, DABVP (Canine/Feline Practice)

 

Steve Thompson, DVM, DABVP (canine/feline practice) spent 3 years in private practice in an AAHA facility in Rockville, MD. After then heading up the General Practice and Companion Animal Behavior services at The Ohio State University he became the Director of the Purdue Pet Wellness initiative and Primary Care service where he continues to see patients and teach clinical patient care for both DVM and CVT students. Focus areas include pediatrics, dentistry, geriatrics, breeder support, and include dogs, cats and exotic pets. He was part of the Leadership Team forming the Primary Care Veterinary Educators collaboration with the AAVMC Academic Affairs subcommittee and served as the inaugural PCVE World Symposium chairperson in 2013. He is affiliated with Purdue’s Center for the Human-Animal Bond and Center for Animal Welfare Science. He served on the AAHA canine life stage wellness taskforce and the 2012 publication of these guidelines as well as the current 2019 revision update. Since 2010, he’s led a study abroad course to Central Europe including
involvement with companion animal pet services at 3 veterinary universities and wildlife and conservation medicine with 4 zoos.
