This one-day symposium will provide attendees with indispensable knowledge on accessing and alleviating pain in dogs and cats and up-to-the-minute information on anesthesia techniques specifically for techs.

Dr. Alicia Karas will review what we know about assessment of pain, and will utilize video presentations of dogs and cats after surgery or trauma to illustrate methods of assessment of pain so that when significant and unrelieved pain is present, additional measures to treat it can be undertaken. She will also discuss methods for improving pain and the overall experience that veterinary patients have by addressing handling, restraint, environment, techniques, and communication.

Susan Bryant, CVT, VTS will lead the afternoon session with talks on Monitoring and Troubleshooting Blood Pressure Under Anesthesia, Respiratory Emergencies and Complications, and Anesthetic Considerations for the Dystocia Patient.
