Lauren Atkins


Dr. Atkins earned a BS in Biology from the College of Charleston, a MS in Animal and Food Industries from Clemson University and both a DVM and MPH from the University of Georgia. For the past eight years she has worked both at the TJ O’Connor Animal Control and Adoption Center in Springfield and as a relief veterinarian in private practice.


Dr. Lauren Atkins has extensive education and experience in diverse areas of veterinary medicine. Her experience includes working with small and large animals, working in both a private practice and shelter environment and specializing in animal welfare and public health. She has been an active member of the MVMA as past chair and current member of the Animal Welfare Committee and participates regularly in national animal welfare symposia on behalf of the MVMA. In addition, Dr. Atkins was appointed by Governor Deval Patrick to sit on the State’s Cruelty and Abuse Task Force to complete a systematic review of the laws pertaining to animal cruelty and protection. Currently, Dr. Atkins represents the MVMA as its alternate delegate to the AVMA House of Delegates.
