Wildfire Animal Relief
Please DO NOT self-deploy. Monetary donations are needed, not in-person volunteers (there's no housing).
The Washington State Veterinary Medical Association provided the following list of local nonprofit organizations:
- Washington State Animal Health Foundation: 100% of any donations received will be used for this emergency response in support of animals in the Spokane region. When donating, please select "Disaster and Emergency Assistance" as the designated fund.
- SpokAnimal: SpokAnimal is on site at the Spokane Fairgrounds to provide shelter and care for displaced and lost pets.
- Humane Evacuation Animal Rescue Team (HEART): HEART is working at the Spokane Fairgrounds with a focus on equine species and large animals.
- LOA Youth Ranch: This non-profit provides a therapy service through rescued horses. They are currently providing shelter space for horses that have had to relocate.
Ukraine Animal Relief
The MVMA formed our International Aid Committee to brainstorm ways in which we can support colleagues and animals abroad. We are working closely with Dr. Vlad Ushakov, President of the Ukrainian Small Animal Veterinary Association (USAVA), and Tufts Vet School to help here in Massachusetts. We hope to expand our ideas and initiatives across the country, too!

Project V.E.T.S. may be interested in the books, though the vet is responsible for shipping. All costs are tax-deductible, according to their website. AVMA also has a website listing organizations and individuals across the country who may collect these. CLICK HERE to access that list. Recycling is also an option.
