Attendees will engage in a comprehensive case study from start to finish, developing and practicing essential skills in investigation, seizure, evidence documentation, testimony, legal disposition, sheltering, care, and animal placement. They will also learn strategies for effectively managing the complexities of animal-related cases.

Veterinarians will participate in hands-on learning about a veterinarian’s role in animal cruelty and criminal investigations and gain hands-on experience in conducting forensic exams, providing appropriate follow-up care, and preparing reports for court proceedings. Veterinarians will also learn about state veterinary reporting of animal abuse requirements and protections.

Veterinarians may choose between attending both or just the second day (October 21), which includes a role-specific breakout session.
