The most common intra-op and post-op spay/neuter complications will be presented and discussed along with recommended management plans. This program is about proactive approaches to manage and minimize complications and how best to prepare your clinic for when they do happen

Learning Objectives:
Improve confidence managing intra-operative surgical complications and anatomic anomalies (i.e. hemoabdomens, cryptorchids, uterine tears, etc.).
Describe a diagnostic and management plan for the most common short term post-operative complications (i.e. inflammation, seroma, incisional dehiscence, incisional infection).
Understand indications for revision surgery vs. medical management post-op, and discuss surgical approach for re-cut procedures if indicated.
Tips for follow up care: counseling caretakers and addressing clinic factors affecting patient and staff safety.
