Board of Registration Licensure Changes

eLicensing Platform Change

The Board of Registration has migrated to a new online portal ("eLIPSE") for licensing, which will allow you to immediately download your license and cut down on the 4-6 week wait time for the paper copy to mail. You will also be able to immediately renew your MCSR without delay.

To ensure a smooth transition, please be aware of the following:

  1. Don't Delay: Create an account and link your license. Plan to renew early if possible to avoid disruption in service or delay in licensing. You can renew up to 90 days before the February 28 deadline.
  2. Formatting Matters: Your name must match exactly (i.e. James vs. Jim) and be careful on the formatting of your date of birth and social security number.
  3. Photo Needed: A headshot with a clear background (like a passport photo) will be displayed on the license.

CE Changes - Proof Required

Starting with the 2027 renewal cycle, you will now be required to upload proof of continuing education credits to renew your veterinary license.

Licensed Veterinarians are required to complete a minimum of 15 CE per calendar year.

Minimum of 9 CE credits must be INTERACTIVE. To be accepted, the following criteria must be met:

  • The instruction must occur in real time (live in person or via online live stream).
  • There is required interaction between the licensee and the instructor.

Maximum of 6 can be NON-INTERACTIVE.

  • This can include home study and pre-recorded webinars.

Notarized CORI Authorization Form

CLICK HERE to download the form that needs to be witnessed by Division of Professional Licensure staff or notarized by a notary public. This form can then be uploaded when you renew your license. On page 2, section b, the document signer is YOUR NAME (not the notary).

In lieu of a notary, you can go in-person and have the form witnessed by a Division of Professional Licensure employee instead.

Remember, this change is coming from the Board of Registration in Veterinary Medicine, NOT the MVMA. you can contact the board with questions at vetmedboard@mass.gov
